The Origins of Dry Loc Gary
Monteer has worked in the construction industry for over 30 years. He is a designer, an architect, a residential developer and has owned his own milling company. In that time he has seen many new developments and improvements in construction techniques. One thing that never seemed to improve was the process of installing wood siding.
To Gary, the look and feel of wood siding was always appealing. He enjoyed wood sidings clean look and it’s ability to add a certain charm to the homes that used it. There was no denying that this type of siding could vastly increase the curb appeal of any home and improve the overall look and feel of a community. Unfortunately, there was also no denying that this type of wood siding had its own problems.
First there was no systematic way to install traditional wood siding and trim. This hampered construction and added to cost. Contractors opted for traditional hardboard installation solutions, stucco or other siding options. Also, Gary believed that traditional wood siding was destined to fail because of a list of issues including expansion/contraction, face-nailing and caulk issues, water penetration and wind sheer. For wood siding to work, there would have to be a shift in the way the industry thought about it and how it was installed.
This was the motivation behind the creation of the Dry Loc System. Gary set out to create a system that would solve all of the problems associated with traditional installation techniques while maintaining the charm and architectural appeal of hardboard siding. The Dry Loc system accomplishes both goals and is currently in use in several housing developments on homes from $300,000 to $3,000,000. The Dry Loc system allows builders to enhance the look of their homes while also offering unmatched protection against failure and other costly problems.
